It's Back
Big Freeze 7 is set for June 14
The date is set for the 7th annual Big Freeze at the ‘G.
Monday, June 14, 2021 is the day the Melbourne Cricket Ground will be awash with blue again as the FightMND Big Freeze beanies take over Australia’s most iconic sporting arena for Big Freeze 7.
And it isn’t only the beanies that will take centre stage because another group of bold and courageous celebrities will accept the challenge and take the plunge into Australia’s coldest ice bath just minutes prior to the annual Melbourne versus Collingwood AFL clash.
Just who they will be will be announced closer to the big day.
Badge of Honour
The Beanie
The Big Freeze beanie is the iconic symbol of the FightMND Army, and it’s back in 2021 so make sure you get one when they are on sale later this year. They are still just $20 each.
The Big Freeze 7 beanies have been designed and ordered so we are incredibly excited, we hope you are too.
They are seen being worn on building sites, at sporting events, in the snow, in the 0utback, in the workplace, on public transport and in shopping centres right across Australia – pretty much anywhere.

Get involved
Big Freeze 7 volunteers
Volunteering is both rewarding and fun and there are several opportunities to get involved in helping the FightMND team out during the Big Freeze 7 campaign.
These opportunities including packing and sending out beanies to the FightMND Army or tin rattling at Big Freeze 7 on June 14 to name just two.
If you would like to get involved, click below for more info or email our Campaigns Manager Emily Paul at [email protected]
We look forward to welcoming you to the team.
Freeze your local community
DIY Big Freeze
The fun, colour and excitement of the Big Freeze doesn’t just need to be at the MCG on Queen’s Birthday, it can be enjoyed within your local community while fundraising for FightMND.
Feel free to get in touch with the team at [email protected] to learn more about how you can bring the Big Freeze to life at your sports club, work place, school or anywhere at all.
It can be big or small, just make sure it is cold!
A Record Year
Big Freeze 6 raised $11.9M
As a result of the many challenges being experienced in the community due to COVID-19 in 2020, the Big Freeze showpiece at the MCG could not proceed, but the fundraising campaign, and the sale of FightMND’s popular and iconic blue beanies went ahead, achieving a record-breaking result.
The Australian public again rallied to the cause in greater numbers than ever before, as the sixth instalment of the Big Freeze raised an incredible $11.9 million to help fund world-leading research into discovering more effective treatments and a cure for MND.
Our thanks to all our key partners who supported the sale of beanies in 2020, including Coles and Bunnings stores nationwide for their major contribution to the Big Freeze event by selling beanies in-store.
Big Freeze 6
All the action from Big Freeze 6 as players from all 18 AFL clubs took on their own ice challenge. A very different Big Freeze in 2020!
